Jan. 23, 2018 BOISE, Idaho â€" Boise State student-athletes combined for a semester grade-point average of 3.22 during fall 2017, the department's 21st-consecutive semester above a 3.0, Director of Athletics Curt Apsey announced Tuesday.

Nearly 80 percent of Bronco student-athletes achieved a 3.0 this past fall, including a department-record 46 with a perfect 4.0. Nearly a third of Bronco student-athletes recorded above a 3.70.

"When we meet with recruits, the first thing they are told is that if they come here, they are going to earn a degree from Boise State University that will help them throughout their careers," Apsey said. "For more than 10 years, our student-athletes have achieved a GPA above 3.0, an unbelievably impressive statistic.

"These young men and women are coming to Boise State with a purpose, and they are accomplishing their goals both in their respective sports and in the classroom. We couldn't be more proud of their efforts."

Boise State student-athletes' combined cumulative GPA was 3.30, just shy of the record 3.31 set at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year.

On the heels of a team record for semester GPA (3.86), the Broncos' gymnastics team eclipsed its own school record, increasing its cumulative GPA to 3.81. The soccer (3.60), softball (3.29), swimming & diving (3.62) and women's track & field (3.56) programs also set team cumulative GPA records.

This past fall, Boise State established a school-record score of 87 percent in the Graduation Success Rate, released annually by the U.S. Department of Education.
