4/9/2026 7:36:00 PM | Esports

Boise, Idaho —Boise State Esports heads to Las Vegas April 10–12 as a two-time defending champion, aiming to defend its Rocket League and Overwatch titles while contending across all four titles at the Power Esports Conference National Championships. The Broncos (42-10) are in their second year in the PEC, and ninth year overall as a program.

Led by head coach Doc Haskell, the Broncos enter with the top overall average seed (2.5), highlighted by a No. 1 seed in Valorant and No. 2 seeds in Rocket League and Overwatch. Boise State's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has also surged this season under coach Kelsey Moser, earning a program-best record and entering as the No. 5 seed, a legitimate dark horse contender.

"You come to Boise State to compete for championships, and we're in position to do exactly that" said Haskell.

TEAM BY TEAM PREVIEW

Rocket League: Last year's national champion enter as the No. 2 seed in this years tournament, with eyes on a repeat championship. Emiliano Flores, Cade Hall and Presten Ferrante are no strangers to the Vegas stage, and have notched a win over every team in the tournament this year. The Broncos will like their chances to go back-to-back.

Overwatch: A barn burner of a regular season saw the Broncos miss out on the No. 1 seed via a three-way tiebreaker. Now the No. 2 seed, the defending national champions are hitting their stride at the right time. A match up with with Utah awaits the Broncos if they are able to make it through their first round unscathed.

Valorant: The Boise State Valorant team has been red hot since the jump this year, putting up a 15-1 record and claiming the outright No. 1 seed. The Broncos bowed out in the semifinals of last years tournament, and this year has had one defining theme: revenge.

Smash Bros: A year ago, Boise State Smash didn't win a game in conference. This year is a very different story. Led by head coach Kelsey Moser and team captain Eric Labastida, the Broncos claimed the No. 5 seed and are squarely the favorites to be a dark horse.
