PHOENIX – Kate Penberthy and Mya Flindt homered in Boise State's 9-4 loss at No. 20 Grand Canyon, Friday night.

The Broncos (20-24, 6-9 Mountain West) were held to four hits by the Lopes (40-4, 13-2), who hit four home runs of their own.

Penberthy gave Boise State a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the second. After Grand Canyon took a 2-1 lead, a two-out, RBI-single by Marissa Gonzalez in the fifth tied the game.

The Lopes scored three times in their half of the fifth to go on top 5-2. Flindt homered with a runner aboard in the sixth to cut Boise State's deficit to a run.

In the bottom of the sixth, Grand Canyon hit a grand slam off Shannon Keighran, Boise State's third of four pitchers, to put the game away.

NOTES

Boise State played its seventh game against a Top 25 team this year.
Kate Penberthy homered for the third time in Mountain West play.
Marissa Gonzalez drove in her team-best 14th run in conference games.
Loula-Rae McNamara started in the circle, her 34th pitching appearance of the season, second nationally.
