LAS VEGAS – Boise State men's tennis fell short in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Utah State in the Mountain West championship match, Friday night.

The title came down to the final singles contest on court one, where the Broncos (22-9, 4-3 MW) were unable to secure the deciding point as the Aggies (19-5, 7-0 MW) claimed the championship.

Utah State opened by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Boise State fought hard in doubles play, with two matches reaching tiebreaks, but couldn't convert.

The Broncos responded in singles, winning three-straight matches to take a 3-1 lead. Stewart Aronson set the tone with a dominant 6-4, 6-0 victory over Xavier Calvelo on court two. Lukas Velik followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Jakub Medved on court five and Taiyo Kurata pushed Boise State ahead with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) decision over Dmitri Goubin on court six.

Utah State answered by claiming the next two matches on courts four and three, setting up a winner-take-all showdown on court one. Avery Tallakson battled into a third-set tiebreak but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) to Jean-Baptiste Badon, sealing the Aggies' victory.
