Broncos Finish Third in UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Collectively shooting an 869 (+5), Boise State men's golf capped the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate, the final regular season team tournament of the spring, with a third-place finish.

The Broncos' performance in the intercollegiate marked the third time the team has placed third or higher in an event this season. Boise State previously won the Oregon State Invitational (Oct. 14-15) and Lake Las Vegas Invitational (Feb. 23-25).

As a team, the Broncos were even in the first and third rounds, but carded a 293 in the second 18 holes on Monday.

Notching his seventh top-10 finish in his senior campaign, Cole Rueck shot under par in all three rounds (71-69-71) and fired a 211 (-5). He concluded the tournament in a second-place tie with Ryan Gay (UC Santa Barbara) and finished one stroke behind Zander Grant (Denver) atop the individual leaderboard.

Joining Rueck in the top 10 was Reese Knox, whose 10th-place finish ties for the highest in his two years at the university. He carded an even-216 and posted his second top-10 placement of his career, and first this season.

Luke Cushman, who won the 2025 UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate, tied for 22nd in the event. Recording a top-25 finish for the seventh time in his career, Cushman shot a 221 (+5).

Having played its final regular season team tournament of the 2025-26 season, the Broncos will host the third-annual Battle of Idaho at Hillcrest Country Club on April 20-21. Boise State won the duel against the Vandals in each of the first two years.
