Broncos Return Home for Boise State Classic

4/2/2026 10:00:00 AM | Women's Beach Volleyball

WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State Beach Volleyball will compete in its first of two back-to-back home weekends with the Boise State Classic, April 3-4. The Broncos (9-11, 2-1 Big 12) will be hosting for the first time as members of the Big 12, welcoming CSUN, Oregon, Santa Clara and UTEP.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE: The Blue and Orange will compete in four duals over the two-day event. Boise State will begin play at 1 p.m. on Friday against Oregon before concluding the day with a dual against Santa Clara at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Broncos will face off against UTEP at 12:30 p.m. before rounding out the weekend with a 4:30 p.m. contest against CSUN.

GAMEDAY GUIDE: All Boise State Beach Volleyball events are free to the general public. Free parking is available at Lincoln Garage. Spectators are permitted to sit on any of the grass areas surrounding the sand. For more gameday information, click here.

PROTECTING THE HOME SAND: Boise State enters the classic holding a 20-dual home winning streak, which began in 2020. The Broncos have the sixth-longest active home winning streak in the nation.

SCOUTING REPORT: The Broncos boast an undefeated 19-0 all-time record against Oregon, but the Ducks (11-10) enter the weekend on a five-dual winning streak. Santa Clara sits at 11-10 on the season, having lost its last three contests. UTEP is 7-13 on the year while CSUN is 6-15.

BUILT FOR THE BIG 12: Boise State is coming off arguably its most successful weekend in program history, taking down two ranked opponents in the same weekend for the first time. The Broncos defeated No. 20 Arizona on Friday before ending the Big 12 preview with a victory over No. 19 South Carolina. The competition marked the first time Boise State competed in conference play as members of the Big 12.

NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED: The Broncos' showing at the Big 12 Preview resulted in the squad earning a No. 20 ranking in the latest AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll. The ranking marks the first time Boise State has shown up in the poll in program history. The Broncos have played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation, with 10 of their 11 losses occurring to ranked opponents.

MAKING HISTORY: Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden made program history by generating 31 career wins as a pair. The duo, who have been paired together since last season, passed Sharli O'Neil and Elli Wolthuis for the record.

NEW YEAR, NEW CONFERENCE: Boise State is competing in its inaugural season as members of the Big 12. The Broncos, who officially joined the league alongside Florida State and South Carolina in September 2025, joined incumbent members Arizona, Arizona State and defending national champion TCU. Boise State spent its previous three seasons as members of the Southland Conference after playing its first nine seasons without a conference affiliation. The Broncos will compete in the Big 12 Conference Championship on April 22-24 in Tucson, Ariz.

NEW YEAR, NEW COACH: The 2026 season marks the debut of head coach Alex Venardos, who took over the helm of the program after Allison Voigt stepped down over the summer. Venardos, who was named to the 2023 class of the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Beach honorees, served as a full-time assistant in the program since 2019 and has been involved with the program since 2016.

YEAR IN REVIEW: The Broncos are coming off their most accomplished season to date. Boise State won both the SLC regular season and conference championship, the latter of which claimed the program's first berth in the 16-team NCAA Beach Volleyball National Tournament. The Broncos finished 23-12, marking their fourth consecutive 20+ win season.

BLOCK PARTY: Alden launched a 'Block Party' fundraiser on Feb. 11 for every ace and/or block the sixth-year senior records on the season. The campaign asks donors to pledge a certain dollar amount for every ace or block that Alden records during the 2026 campaign, with all donations going towards BroncoBOLD. So far this season, Alden has recorded 49 aces and 45 blocks. Those interested in joining can sign up here.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS: The dual against Oregon on Friday will serve as the BroncoBOLD Mental Health Dual. BroncoBOLD is a Boise State University student-athlete mental health initiative that spreads a message of hope, help and resiliency to the entire campus and greater community. BroncoBOLD will champion the importance of mental health and wellness in all areas of life through the platform of sport. The BroncoBOLD mission is built on three pillars: reduce stigma, raise awareness and cultivate resiliency.
